Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions I receive. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to provide more information!
What can I expect from therapy?
In therapy, we’ll start by getting to know each other and talking about what’s on your mind. I’ll ask questions to understand your challenges, your goals, and your history, and together we’ll explore what’s working and what isn’t. Therapy is a space where you can speak freely, and my goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for that. The process often involves reflection, processing emotions, developing new coping strategies, and making changes to thought patterns or behaviors.
How long will I need therapy?
The duration of therapy varies from person to person, depending on the nature of the issues you’re working through and your individual goals. Some people find relief in just a few sessions, while others may choose longer-term therapy for more in-depth work. We'll regularly check in about your progress and adjust our approach as needed.
What is your therapy style or approach?
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches based on what you need and what works best for you. Some of the techniques I incorporate include:
Tapping / Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) – A gentle, body-based method that helps reduce distress and rewire negative beliefs by tapping on acupressure points while focusing on difficult thoughts or emotions.
Mindfulness – Helping you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings in the present moment.
Feminist Theory – Understanding how social factors influence your experience and empowering you to challenge harmful societal narratives.
Psychodynamic Therapy – Unpacking the early messages and relational dynamics that influenced how you see yourself and your body today.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) – Exploring the different “parts” of yourself and how they affect your emotions and behaviors.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Working with you to identify and challenge negative thinking patterns.
My approach is collaborative, meaning we’ll work together to develop a plan that feels right for you.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not work directly with insurance companies, and I am considered out-of-network. However, I am partnered with a third party who can process your claims for you. During your consultation call, I can assist you with verifying your out-of-network benefits and managing insurance reimbursement.
I can also provide you with a Superbill, which you may submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. It’s always a good idea to check with your insurance company ahead of time to see if they offer reimbursement for out-of-network therapy services.
How much do sessions cost?
My fee for a standard 50-minute session is $250. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments based on income, as I want to make therapy accessible to as many people as possible. Please reach out if you’d like to discuss options or payment plans.
